Red Piranha
Size:Grow to a maximum length of about 13 inches.
Habitat:Rivers, streams, and other flowing waters throughout South America.
Diet:Smaller fish, and insects. When in groups, they can consume much larger prey.
Man eaters?
They generally eat animals smaller than themselves, however, given the opportunity they can gang up and attack as a group. As a group these fish can be very aggressive and have been known to feed on animals as large as a capybara or a horse. While there have been reports of these fish killing humans, it usually doesn't happen unless the human is bleeding in the water or in the water near a prey animal.
